My timing belt went yesterday. They first quoted me about $900 to replace everything. Now they are telling me that there is no pressure on my valves or anything and it's going to be $2,000. Is this fair?

yes, you have to install the timing belt to determine if the valves are bent. if they are, then your estimate, and it is an estimate, not an invoice, has to be corrected. they did nothing wrong.

i guess you have not replaced the belt at the mileage reccomended. this is the result when it gets old and breaks.

sorry, but the only other option would be a used motor but it would still be more money. when they open the motor, lets hope they do not find more damage
