Why would the front wheels on a front wheel drive ford fusion quit turning? We pulled out of the driveway started down the road got to about 25 miles an hour and the car coasted to a stop - the engine kept running but the car would not move. By the time the tow truck arrived the wheels would turn about a 1/4 of the way and then not turn at all then turn a bout a 1/4 of the way and then not at all. What is the problem?

could be that the brakes locked up,or the tranny is slipping.can you raise the wheels off of the ground, and with the car in neutral and park brake on,see if you can turn the wheels by hand,if so you may have a tranny issue.
