2009 Ford Edge Car Would Start Changed Battery Started Turned Off Got Home

car would not start. changed battery. car started then but we turned it off when we got home and it would not start. we tapped on a component on the starter and it started. so now we have tried several times to start and it starts. why does it not always start?

Your starter is going bad. anytime you have to tap on the starter to get it work, it's an indication that is needs to be replaced. Eventually even tapping on it will not work.
As an extra piece of advice, once the starter is removed have it chacked at an autoparts store to be sure it is bad BEFORE buying a new one. most prts store will check the starter for FREE. Keep me posted.
