Rear view mirrors

How do you take the clear lens off of the outside rear view mirror of an 09 Ram?

The glass is attached with a rope adhesive. I've never been able to remove one without breaking it. If it is already broken, remove the rest and get the adhesive from a dealer to install the new one.
