2009 Dodge Nitro wont rev past 3000rpm

Hi my dodge nitro wont rev above 3000rpm regardless of whether it is in park or driving. There is no engine management light on or any fault codes when put on diagnostic machine any advice would be greatfully received

You probably should test the exhaust system for excessive back pressure.
