Hi, I am using a 2009 yamaha fz-6r engine with a custom made intake manifold and I am repeated getting sparks/ back fires in my runners.
In accordance to the lean burn mixture I checked the spark plugs, and found it to contain black deposits!
any insight on how the two things can happen simultaneously?

Are the plug gaps correct, not running rich, may just be tune related, check through these first.
