2008 Subaru Outback Windshield Wipers Acting Strange They Will Only Come On You

My windshield wipers are acting strange. They will only come on if you turn them on the high setting. They run on high fine at first but then gradually slow down and stop. Takes about 5 minutes for them to stop completely.

Check the wiper links. If they lack lubricants or are worn, they would be heavy and the motor is going to overheat working on them.
