my reverse lights wont work

reverse lights wont work i have checked bulbs, fuse, and wires in rumble housing visualy and see nothing wrong, the only other possibility i have heard suggested was the reverse inhibitor switch is this likely and do you think replacement can be done as a home repair, by the way the car is autotrans?

Do you have a multimeter to do some test?You will need one.
