2008 Saturn Sky obd codes

Ii have Innova 3100 Scanner, and it showed no codes just vat flashing. but Firestone to me two codes were not displayed to drive about 100 miles and bring the car back. .What kind of Scanner do I need to keep up with theirs

Your scan tool will only read engine and transmission basic codes.To read them all you would need a professional scan tool like a otc nemesis mac task master or matco pro scan there all on the otc nemesis plate form same scan tools different cases.Thats if you dont want bidirectional controls just reading codes data etc . bidirectional is where you can command solenoids run tests etc with the scan tool.But those are even more money.
