The lift gate will not open, even when you unlock the car?

The unlock button will not work at the drivers door only. The lift gate will not open, even when you unlock the car. Is there a place inside the vehicle that will allow me to open the lift gate from inside the car?

you need to remove the inner door panel to access the linkage and open the door.

Yes, there is a emergency tailgate release handle at the inside of the tailgate. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
