My car has been over heating. The heater will blow hot air once in a while and the temp will go down. But for the most part the heater won't work either. Is it possible that it is the thermostat? We have a $100 deductible and money is really tight. So if there is the possibility of it being the thermostat we would rather start there then having to pay the deductible. Thanks for your help!

It could be the thermostat. If you go to our homepage under the DIY section, you will find directions for checking the thermostat. Do that and let me know what you find.

The thermostat is a good place to start. Are there any over-heating issues besides the temp gage? When it over-heats what is the temp reading in degrees F. Does the radiator fan work?
