I have a 2008 pontiac grand prix gxp, it has recently started to skip on accleration. My question is if it is a simple fix like a tune up, or could it be a transmission problem?

That depends on exactly what is happening now. I can said that neither option would be simple. The term "tune up" is not really used any more because there are so many different types of systems and they don't require as much maintenance. You are at the mileage where plugs could be an issue. If your check engine light is coming on have the codes read as they may help you.
