Warning lights preceding engine cut out

peugeot 407 2008 2 litre diesel keeps cutting out and warning messsage "oil pressure too low" - no one seems to be able to diagnose

Make sure it has oil. Remove the oil pressure sending unit and install a gauge. Make sure you have at least 30 PSI of pressure. Make sure the oil doesn't need changing. If it's too thick, it won't be able to be pumped properly.

If the oil pressure is good, replace the sending unit. The vehicle's computer is probably shutting it down when the low oil pressure is detected to prevent the engine from damage.
