I just popped the hood and everything worked fine. When I tried to close it, the release latch connected, but the hood wouldn't close entirely. I flipped the hood release inside the car again and it had no tension on it. Nothing is bent and there is nothing in the way keeping it from closing. I pushed on the hood connection apparatus with a screw driver and it depressed/rotated as it should when the hood connecting ring hits it. But it won't operate with just me pushing on the hood.

The latch must have accidentally closed. You must have someone pull the hood release while installing a screwdriver in the latch and then pull up to reopen the latch, this happens from time to time.
