Code p0720, automatic vehicle speed sensor?

Good afternoon, Support,

I have the vehicle listed above. I am getting code p0720 automatic vehicle speed sensor code. I tried shifting into drive or reverse and it will not go into gear. I also noticed that if I shift into drive and step on the gas the engine RPMs hovers no more than 1,500 RPMs. Would you advise that this may be some sort of sensor? I appreciate any help or advice.

Hi,

The code is specific to the secondary speed sensor (output speed sensor). I know a faulty sensor would cause drivability issues and speedometer issues, but it should still go into gear (drive/reverse). Is this the only code that is stored?

As far as the P0720, I attached the description and diagnostics below. Take a look through them and let me know if this is something you are comfortable performing.

Please pardon the late reply but I am not sure I know how to do the diagnostic. Also is the secondary speed sensor inside the transmission or outside?
