timing belt broke on 2008 nisson aprio. are valves damaged?

the engine just stopped - no noise, vibration, or other symptom. we're inmexico. i've been told the valves will need replaced and have been quoted a very high price. Any chance that the valves are ok?

-We don't have any sort of information on this model-Sorry! the ony way to find out is to remove the cylinder head and inspect valves and pistons
