saying error where the mileage is and not the mileage

battery was loose took off for a moment and put back and when i started my car later error was there and now i cantse the mileage anymore please help want to trade my car in for a new one

Did you remove the battery terminal with the engine running? this can cause a voltage spike, that can fry electrical equipment, hopefully it will just be a fuse, check fuses for instrument cluster first.
