My 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L idles above 1400 RPM when first started, even if it's 90 degrees outside. At times, the radiator fan will run at the same time. What is causing this and how can I idle it down?

The computer (PCM) determines idle. Has the check engine light come on? Also, you need to be aware that this is most likely an emissions related issue. The vehicle comes with a 5 year 50K emissions warranty and is covered 100% by the manufacturer. I would recommend that you contact the dealer and explain what is happening. I'm confident that it is a sensor that is causing the problem and most likely under warranty.

Let me know if you have other questions.
