2008 Hyundai Sonata Take Great Care Car Other Day Ac Just Stopped Parked Let

I take great care of my car. But the other day the AC just stopped. I parked, let sit until next morning. I got in and it came back on. It only went out once more, but after banging under steering wheel it comes back on. What is wrong with my AC? I read my report thru CarMD that the compressers in hyundai's 1999-2009 models can cause problems. I talked to a machanic at precision tune at he said the cost $250 plus tax.

Can you tell me what is wrong?
