I discovered recently that my car has an alarm. I don't know exactly what I did to set it off, but it went off when I parked one night at bowling alley when I opened the door. A friend I was bowling with told me to lock it with the key from the outside and that seemed to turn it off. I've had the car for over a year and even the remote doesn't have an alarm reference on it. What could I have done to make it go ape crazy? A little disturbing because I can't turn car on when alarm had started and it resets my radio tuner.

Do you know what could have set it off though? I'll bring it up when I next see my mechanic for inspection but I want to avoid it going off again. I'm not sure if it was the door open right when engine was turned off or what. How can I know what system my car has? Can my mechanic disable it if need be?

Also as a unrelated question how do I clean the bottom of my car? I prefer washing my car by hand at the quarters car wash but I don't know how to get salt from bottom of car other than going to Delta Sonic.
