I observed noise while driving around the front suspension of my automobile (while driving on rough roads). I checked the front wheels and discovered that there is clearance when i shake it on the 3 O'clock and 9 O'clock but firm on 6 O'clock and 12 O'clock..what is likely to be the problem...its a 2008 honda civic. 65000km .

Worn inner or outer tie rod end. Outers are more common. Have a helper turn the wheel back and forth while you watch underneath for movement between the ball and socket of the joint. If you don't know what to look for, have it inspected at a tire and alignment shop. If they aren't real busy, they will usually take the time to show you the cause of the noise and free play.
