I was told I need to repair the "compliance bushing" for $480.00 and it seems way too expensive for such a cheap (I've read) part. I've never even heard of compliance bushings; is there a comparable part on other cars? I've read so many complaints about this online that it seems it should be a "recall".

Cars are not recalled simply because they require a specific repair quite often. Recalls are only made for 2 reasons, safety or emissions, no other reason.

Just because a part is inexpensive doesn't mean it can't require a lot of labor to replace it. Bushings are a good example of that. The component they go into has to be removed and the bushings have to be pressed in and out. We frequently have to remove entire dashboards to replace a $40 part.

A) Do you know how many compliance bushings are on my 2008 Honda Civic?

B) my car has actually been on recall for the oxidation of the paint on the hood, doors, and trunk as well as the visors and also possible coolant leakage. I do believe they refer to it as a "campaign" though.

C). Is 70,000 miles about average for compliance bushings repair?

Thanks!

I'm still wondering how many of these "compliance bushings" are on a Honda Civic. Is it more than one?

A compliance bushing is actually a lower control arm bushing. They gave this one a specific name because it is designed a little different from most lower control arm bushings. There is one on each side of the car so the answer is two..
