Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

Ia m not too familiar with this vehicle because it is not available in the US. However, I believe it is located where the right side axle shaft enters the transmission it is above the pan. First, remove the plug and fill the transmission until the fluid starts running out of the fill plug. Next, start the engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature. With the engine running and warm, remove the plug and fill the transmission until the fluid starts running out of the fill plug. At that point, it is full.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

Thanks Joe for the information. This Captiva was manufactured in Korea a RHD. Looking from under the bonnet from the top down into the motor on the right side. Would the fill plug be about a 25 to 26 millimeter hexagon bolt head size? As I think it maybe which is under the power steering reservoir? Cheers

Honestly, I do not think it would be that big. I would think it would be around 15mm. I know there is a Chevrolet Captiva, but they were not introduced until 2012. I attached a picture of a Chevy Captiva Drain and Fill locations. They are numbers 63 is the fill and 64 is the drain.

Let me know if this helps at all. There is a good chance it may.

Take care,
Joe

I spoke to a mechanic from Holden and he says it is under the battery. It is a black 11mm plug and is difficult to get at. The diagram fill plug #63 looks like where I removed the drain plug from the side not from underneath #64. Nearly three liters came out of it. I was told the transmission takes bout six. Four liters. Looks like I am better off to get the transmission flushed out rather than top it up. The oil came out blackish color and it should be a reddish color. There are no manuals that I can find from the internet for this Captiva like Haynes manuals etc.

If the fluid is dirty, it may be the right time to change it. Since most is already out, I would flush it now. As far as repair manuals, they are not easy to find. However, there are a few online manuals available for your vehicle.

Let me know how things work out for you.
