I bought a new PCV valve but cannot locate where it goes. I recently bought the truck, so I would like to replace it in case it has never been replaced. I stopped by 2 different auto parts stores to ask, but they could not find it either. I've checked the Haynes and Chilton manuals, but the locations they specify are very vague/generic. I did find something that looks like it could be the PCV valve, located right on in the middle of the engiine, on the top valve cover, just behind the oil fill cap. There is a hose attached to it and I was able to easily remove the hose. The part that *I think* is the PCV valve is attacked to the valve cover with a 'slightly loose' black plastic 'nut' holding it in place. I don't want to break the nut off by turning it--it seems a bit fragile--so I have not pulled this piece out yet. I tried to pry it off gently using a small screwdriver, but was not successful. The new PCV valve I bought has a right angle and the part I think is the PCV valve (on the valve cover) looks like it would just be a straight/vertical type of valve. Is this piece behind the oil fill cap the PCV valve? If so, how do you remove that plastic 'nut'? And, if you don't mind, what is the Motorcraft part # for the correct PCV valve? (The one they sold me is Motorcraft EV-274 and the valve itself has a white stamped 'L356'. The local Ford dealership confirmed that this is the right part number.) Thank you so much in advance--I've searched for HOURS online and cannot confirm that what I've found is, in fact, the the PCV valve (or how to remove the 'nut' holding it in place).

I need to find out where both the fuel filter and pcv valve are located. Can I replace the parts myself? I occasionally have to tap on the gas pedal whenever the truck dies upon starting.

The fuel filter is under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, front of fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line.

The PCV valve is mounted in the valve cover near the brake booster.
