Hello. My 2008 Mustang GT (3,389 miles-slightly babied) has a problem. Battery died from sitting in garage over winter not being driven. New battery as of last Fall. Tried to charge the battery, and the tail or brake lights (2 outside bulbs on each side) came on and stayed on. Battery did not charge enough to start car. Disconnected battery and charged it last night. Reconnected battery this morning, car started right up, no light problem. Later, I started the car and moved it out of garage to wash it, and then when I pulled it up to finish out of the puddles, I noticed the rear lights were back on. I tried restarting, running, and turning off the car again, taking the parking brake off, turning the light switch on and off, etc. But the lights are just staying on. I am afraid to drive it 20 miles into town and then have to find someone to jump start me. Any help would be appreciated. I asked the local ASE mechanic, who didn't have any ideas for me. Thank you for your help.

IS IT YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS THAT ARE ON?

UNDER THE DASH, AND AT THE TOP OF YOUR BRAKE PEDAL ARM YOU WILL FIND IT

WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS AT REST----THE PLUNGER SHOULD BE PUSHED IN

WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE PEDAL--IT SHOULD COME OUT

IT MAY HAVE COME OUT OF IT'S HOLDER AND BE DANGLING

IT MAY JUST BE BAD

TRY PUSHING THE PLUNGER IN WITH YOUR FINGER OR A TOOL----DO THE LIGHT GO OUT???

UNPLUG THE CONNECTOR ONTO THIS SWITCH----DO THEY GO OUT?

I MAY BE ALL WRONG........VERIFY IF THIS IS THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON, OR IF IT'S THE RUNNING LIGHTS

TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS, SEE IF THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE THE OTHER ONES

A BIG HAND MIRROR AND A GOOD FLASHLIGHT MAY SAVE YOUR NECK, WHEN TRYING TO FIND/ LOOK AT THIS STUFF!

LET ME KNOW THE DEAL---WHAT'S WHAT

I CAN ALSO GET WIRING DIAGRAMS OF THE SYSTEM,SO WE MIGHT SEE OTHER STUFF LIKE RELAYS AND SUCH IN IT

HERE'S ANOTHER THING TO LOOK AT----MANY TIMES THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE, BUT EZ TO OVERCOME.........IT HAS BEEN SITTING, THE CORROSION MONSTER MAY HAVE VISITED YOUR CAR!
