rpm goes all the way up

I got a 08 mustang v6 when I try to accelerate the rpm goes all the way up an the car doesn't seem to advance. Please help Rpm goes up when you try to accelerate an car doesn't seem to advance with the power you putting in it.

You sure the transmission is not slipping? If not check the exhaust system for restriction, also check the MAF and TPS sensors-

Could be a plugged catalytic converter or a slipping clutch. Try this: Start the engine and start moving. Between 5-10 MPH, shift to third gear. The engine should bog or die. If not, the clutch is slipping and needs to be replaced.

My test will tell you whether the clutch is bad. Our reference material says you have a hydraulic clutch system, which usually don't require adjustment.

The clutch is slipping and the clutch assembly needs replacing
