My 2008 Ford Focus has a digital miles per gallon readout. Lately the display has begun to fluctuate wildly.

On average the display used to read 29-34 mpg and it was fun to maintain the highest mpg possible. Now it drops 2-4 mpg (measured in tenths) within a few city blocks, regains the 2-4 and drops again. Just sitting at a traffic light, it may drop or even rise. It's become so unreliable that I've turned off the display.

The car has 48k miles and runs like a charm.

Sounds like the mpg module has an internal concern . would need to be tested for dtcs or module configuration concern which means going to the dealer.

Appreciate your advice. I've looked all over the 'net looking for information on this module but no luck. What component do I need to replace?
