Good Day,

I really need some clarification on the transfer case fluid type to be used on my truck listed above. The manual says two quarts of Mercon V. A few searches on the internet says that Ford released a memo to not use Mercon V. Some say to use XL-12 or Ford transfer case fluid. You say to use Mercon LV. Can you please point me in the right direction. Thank you very much!

Hi,

I checked the manual. It indicates Ford XL 12 transfer case fluid. I attached a picture below showing the information right from the manual.

Also, I checked for any technical service bulletins that would suggest something different to be used, and I found nothing.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
