I have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 4.7 liter flex fuel, and I recently had my engine rebuilt upon getting it back it would not start. I replaced the battery, starter, and the positive connections from the battery to the starter. The starter engages the flywheel for a short period of time then freely spins but never actually fires the engine I have replaced the starter 3 times already so now I have no clue what it could be.

if the starter is engaging freely it is the starter drive that is messed up which is the gear on the endo of starter shaft. wither that or it's hitting a spot on the flywheel where the teeth are gone or can't engage enoughpull the starter and look at flywheel/flexplate.then check things like anti theft or try to reset it look online if you don't have a manual. and check fuses underhood as well as auto shutoff relay and finally check crank sensor connection.
