My 2008 avenger 4 cylnder 2.4 L has a very load knock on right side of engine. I went to auto zone and they checked for codes but there were none, I haven't lost any power or perfomance, in fact my gas mileage has improved. Any ideas?

Did the guys at Auto Zone listen to the noise and give you any idea as to the cause?

If there is internal engine damage it is going to get worse very quickly. There are other possible causes too. One is a loose or broken vibration damper. That's the large steel wheel the pulley is bolted to that drives the belt for the alternator and power steering pump. If ignored long enough, that will chew up the end of the crankshaft resulting in a large repair bill instead of a relatively small one.

Have someone listen to the noise who can give you an idea of other possible causes.

No, sorry to say I have never got any good info from them, once they they told me how to bleed my brack the wrong way, took me 2 days to get it right.

Do you think it could have anything to do with the recall on trans engage lever

Highly doubtful. Have someone listen to the noise to see if they can determine where it's coming from. A stethoscope might help too. You can find them at the auto parts stores for about ten bucks.
