I have a 2008 chevy aveo that just started hissing apox 10 min after it was shut down. The hissing was coming from the front lower passenger side area of the engine compartment. Nothing was dripping and there was nothing coming out just the noise and I couldnt get a definite fix of where it was coming from. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Typically, you will get hissing noise form a leaking tire. If the tire were to leak from the inner wall, it can appear that the noise is coming from the engine area. Check the tire on that side and make sure it has proper pressure.

A vacuum leak can also make that type of noise, but it should not exist 10 minutes after engine shut off.

Here is a guide of typical engine noises, go thru this and see if any of them appear to be the issue:

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

Just to add little bit more info should be added for the possible hissing noise.

Refrigerant can freeze up in the accumulator.
After the engine gets shut off, it will thaw out and release pressure inside the system, creating the hissing noise.
Thank you.
