Access is poor due to the design of the system, many cars are going that way, they make things so compact with new cars it not easy to work on them, there is no easy way short seeing what can be removed to give better access, maybe this is better left to a mechanic that has done one before, otherwise if you are still tyring to get it out, just take your time and do not force any thing .

Have a look at the attached image... like mhpautos has said, room is limited, but can be done.
If a grease monkey can do it, then heck, anyone can.
