I am thinking of buying this car - It has had one owner with full VW service history is in immaculate condition and looks like it has been looked after. I only need the car to last for another 30/40000 miles (ave 10000 annually) can anyone give advice about buying high milage car.

130,000 is not considered high mileage in my book, and for a five-year-old car would have to be mostly highway driving which is relatively easy on it. Something to consider though is you won't find any mechanic, other than a few diehard VW mechanics who would want to own a VW, and that mirrors what most instructors feel. Volkswagen is one of the top three manufacturers in the world at designing in tricks to cost you money after the sale. Even VW fans who owned them many years ago get surprised with the newer models and the extremely high repair costs caused by something as simple as disconnecting the battery to replace it. That can cause the engine to not start, if it starts it won't come off idle and won't come out of park. You must drag the car skidding onto a flatbed truck for a very expensive trip to the dealer to have numerous computers unlocked. There is a reason you don't see many VWs on the road and you don't see that many dealerships.
