Why does my toyota fj cruiser hesitate or bog in between the lower gears?

my fj cruiser hestitates or bogs in between gears. i normally try to press down on the gas pedal in order to hopefully down shift the engine or slow down and reaccelerate.

Check fuel pump pressure, check for tune up, check for major vacuum leaks.
