2007 Toyota Corolla check engine light

Hi I tried to start my car and it wouldn't at first try. Then I tried again and it did but the check engine light came on. I could still run the car but I didn't drive it. Can you tell me what might be wrong.

Was the engine turning over and trying to start the first time? Or did it not do anything, or just click?

The car actually did start the first and second time I tried it bt then I gave it about 15 or 20 seconds and tried again and it started first go then turned it off again about a minute later and started again no problem but the engine light was on and the check engine words came up on the dash too. It's a 2007 toyota corolla

Ok. You stated in the question that it didnt start. Go to a parts store and have them retrieve the code(s). Report back with your findings!
