My car has been losing oil for about a year now. Last oil change I was a quart low. Toyota dealer cannot find out what the problem is. I bring the car in for an oil consumption test every 1200 miles. Was told that it will only get worse. Eventually will this ruin the engine or can I keep driving as long as I keep the correct amount of oil in the car?

1200 per quart isn't really bad, check to make sure pcv valve works and keep oil up

Yes it is, this is not good and to me it sounds like you have a broken oil control ring on one of the pistons, the engine will need to be disassembled. But I would check for a broken spring in the PCV valve first. Here is the location so you can check it out. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
