My car won't start as I tried to go to work on a Monday morning. The car worked fine throughout the weekend and was last used at about half 7 pm the previous day. I assumed it was a battery problem and tried jump starting it. The security alarm went off when I attempted this. Now the keys cant even open the door remotely unless I do it manually. What could the problem be as the manual does not really tell me much.

It could be the result of many different things. First, if the engine won't turn over, make sure the battery is in good condition and full charged. Most parts stores will test it for you for free. Next, if the battery is good and it still won't start, you need to check to see if you have good fuel pressure and are getting spark to the plugs.

Based on what you said (the key fob doesn't work) it sounds like a dead battery.
