smells like gas

my car smells like gas, you can smell it on the inside of the car and out side. When you have not drove it for a while it is hard to start, I have not noticed any gas leaking out on to the ground and I have not noticed a lose in my gas I have been really keeping an eye on my gas level. what could be causing this and do you know if this has been a problems with other G5s thaat people own?
