Jerks and turns off when transmission is shifted into gear?

I have the car listed above sl and it jerks really hard and turns off when i put in drive and reverse.

Hi,

It sounds like the torque converter is bad. That is what allows the transmission and engine to disengage when stopped. Does it feel like a manual transmission when someone would pop the clutch?

Also, does the check engine light stay on when the engine is running? If it does, we need to scan the can-bus. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, a few wires tie all the different modules together creating a network.

If there is a code, that will show it regardless of which module has the code stored. Here is a video showing how it's done:

Let me know if that is something you can do or if you have other questions. We really need to confirm if it is the torque converter because the transmission needs to be removed to access it.
