what would cause engine to lock up? had oil changed friday and on tuesday car won't turn over when i come out of work. how do i know if timing belt broke or what? does it have a belt or chain?

check engine oil first to be sure it hasn't leaked out.

when you turn the key can you hear the starter engage or does it not make a noise at all?
