The cigarette lighter in my car will not power anything. I suspected a blown fuse at first and changed it out since it was bad. After doing so, the cigarette lighter still will not power anything or warm the lighter itself. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and as suspecting the whole lighter itself may be bad however, there are two cigarette lighters in the car. The first in the dash. And the second in the arm rest compartment. Any suggestions?

Since the fuse was replaced, have you checked to see if the new one has blown?

I hadn't checked until you asked. I checked on my way to work and no, the new fuse has not blown since I replaced it.

If it is good, you need to check to see if power is getting to the outlet. If it is, then the component itself is most likely bad. If there is no power, it becomes a wire tracking procedure where you work backwards from the outlet to the fuse to see where power is being lost. The one thing I would check first, before tracing the wiring, is to see if there is power at the fuse itself. Do that and let me know what you find.
