for some reason my car has been making a noise which i believe comes from the rear deffirential and it has been increasing since the first time i heard it and now as soon as i start getting close to 40mph it starts making another noise in addition with the one it was already making

It you feather the throttle a noisy diff will change pitch a wheel bearing will just get louder with road seed, get the diff checked out the longer you leave it the more it may cost to repair, but by now it may be fairly stuffed.
