2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Automatic Transmission Will Shift Out Second Gear

The automatic transmission will not shift out of second gear. All of the gears (D,N,R, etc.) have square lights around them. Do you know what is wrong?

it's in limp mode have a trans guy run a scan and look at it there is someting internally wrong with it.
