I own a 2007 Hyundai Accent SE. I need new tires. The measurements are 205/45/16 for the stock tires. I was wondering if I am able to go to a 205/50/16 on this car to allow for more options of tires. What are the positives and what are the negatives if i am able to do this?

The "45" is the height from the ground to the lower edge of the wheel. It is the percentage of the width of the tread. That means it won't be quite as tall and could affect the speedometer a little. The guys at the tire store will be able to tell you the number of revolutions per mile or the outside circumference for comparison. If you have anti-lock brakes, you must buy four matching tires to keep that system happy.
