what causes an intermittent problem in h3 hummer (2007) going dead while my foot is on the gas pedal??

I was driving and the h3 just went DEAD! Pressed the reset button under the hood and it cranked..........not sure if we should try to have it diagnosed or get rid of it. It has happened twice so it is an intermittent problem.

-Start by having the computer scanned for OBD2 code/s, an intermittent problem is very hard to find-could be a problem with the throttle position/control or the camshaft/crankshaft sensors etc-
