The TPMS has been coming on for some time. I took it to a tire shop and diagnosed it with a defected sensor. They changed the sensor and the light stopped coming on. I drove it for 76 miles and the light returned. The tire shop tells me I need to take it to the dealer to get it re calibrated. Is there something else I can do before spending a bunch of money to fix this?

CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURES?

BEING AN OLD FART AND MAINLY UP TO DATE ON JEEP CJs AND FORDS, I'M KINDA THE "REAL JEEP" (JEEPS THAT THE WINDSHIELD WILL FOLD DOWN) GURU IN MY TOWN, THEY ALL SORTA SEEK ME OUT. STUFF WITH CARBURETORS.I SELDOM DEAL WITH TPMS's AND A LOT OF THE NEWER STUFF, EXCEPT OUT OF NECESSITY TO KEEP THE FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS STUFF GOING. AS FAR AS INSTALLATION

I WORK PART TIME AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND I DO GET A GOOD BIT OF INFORMATION WHEN IT FLOWS THRU!

YA KNOW, THIS STUFF IS MAN-MADE, EVEN BRAND NEW STUFF CAN BE BAD. LIKE ON THE SHELF FOREVER AND A BATTERY FAILURE

MAYBE ATTEMPT A TMPS OF A DIFFERENT BRAND, FROM ANOTHER AUTO PARTS STORE?

I JUST LOOKED UP ONE AT "ADVANCE AUTO PARTS", ITS A LITTLE OVER $31, I CAN POSSIBLY SHOW YOU HOW TO SAVE $10 ON IT, AND HAVE IT IN YOUR HANDS IN ABOUT AN HOUR. IF THAT STORE IS IN YOUR REGION

BUT THIS "TID-BIT" HAS SURFACED A FEW TIMES AT THE STORE. FOR OTHER VEHICLES!

IF THE TIRE PRESSURE IS TOO MUCH, THE DARN THINGS WILL ALSO SLING OUT A SIGNAL TO THE CAR. NOT KNOWING YOUR VEHICLE. COULD IT BE ANOTHER WHEEL DOING IT?

MAYBE DRIVING HEATED THE TIRES UP. AIR EXPANSION INCREASED THE PRESSURE ENOUGH TO TRIGGER IT?

I'M PRETTY SURE THE PRESSURE SHOULD BE RIGHT AT 32 PSI TO MAKE THEM WORK RIGHT

. SEE IF YOU CAN FIND A "DECENT", MAYBE "BETTER" TIRE GAUGE TO CHECK YOUR PRESSURE. NOT THE "CHEAPIE" $0.99 SPECIAL OR ONE THAT IS OLD AND HAS BEEN BANGED AROUND IN YOUR TOOL BOX FOREVER

CALL AROUND. MAYBE A BIGGER TOWN/ CITY. SOME EXPERIENCED LARGER TIRE SHOPS MAY HAVE A LESSER EXPENSIVE SOLUTION THAN GOING TO THE STEALERSHIP, SHOULD YOU RUN OUT OF OPTIONS

YOUR TURN
