The noise seems to be coming from the left side of the car at the rear wheel.

The is a clanking noise when I go over speed bumps and if I go through a pothole in the road. What could this be? Could it be my suspension or shocks? Are these expensive parts to replace and are they okay to change or are they in tricky place and will take awhile to repair?

Shocks are about $40 apiece. Easy to replace with simple tools. Other suspension components CAN be tricky to do, but with a $20 Chilton's or Haynes manual, they are very doable.
