2 mos ago I had ac condenser installed on my 2007 Ford Taurus. Recently driving on the highway the power steering pulley dropped off. Belt off but not broken. Mechanic says unrelated, but I disagree, since belt was replaced when ac condenser was replaced. Am I wrong? Also--didn't need alignment before power steering pulley was replaced, but does now,. Is this to be expected? Knowledge welcome. Thanks!

youon't have to pull the pulley when replacing belt so I doubt it is the mechanics fault. As far as an alignment you could have hit a pothole in the road and that would be enough to jack it out of alignment. Alignments should be checked about every yr or year and half or when front end pieces are replaced.
