My 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac started using an exessive amount of fuel lately. Dropped from 21mpg to 16mpg within the last 2 month. Already tried new plugs, fuel filter and air filter. A local mech suggested to change the oxygen sensor. Please give me your take on this or have any other suggestions about what to do next.
Thank you much... Don

If you have a bad O2 sensor, the check engine light should be on. Have the catalytic converter checked to make sure it isn't plugging. Also, if the check engine light has come on, have the computer scanned to identify what caused it to come on. Finally, have the temp sensor checked.
