Three days ago while driving, the coolant temperature sensor came off causing coolant to spray all over the engine and exhaust. I took my air hose and dried all the connections and used some WD40 but now the engine will not fire. It cranks but won't catch. The display says check charging system. I'm good at replacing parts. But I need help identifying what is causing this problem.

Thank you.

I would start with removing the alternator and take it to your local parts store and have them test it. Lets start there ok

Ok. So a bad alternator would keep the engine from firing?

No it won't but you said it is displayed in the message center so it should be checked. Now as for not starting do you have spark? If so do you have fuel? What have you checked so far??
